Dr. M. Catherine Jones is an Indiana Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and an Indiana Licensed Addictions Counselor. Additionally, she holds certification as an NCC from the National Board of Certified Counselors. She began her career with a Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on social work and has been in social/mental health services for 21 years; beginning her career in social work with battered women and children and with a child abuse preventative program for pregnant teens and teenage mothers. This experience was followed by a Master of Science degree in mental health counseling and marriage and family therapy. Dr. Jones has been a therapist, primarily in Lake County, Indiana for the past 12 years while also receiving Certification in Addictions Counseling and her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. Dr. Jones has extensive work with facilitating individual and family counseling, as well as addictions counseling, both with groups and individually.
Dr. Jones’s theoretical approach is primarily CBT and motivational interviewing on an individual basis, and structural and strategical in the family therapy environment. Dr. Jones has extensive work with family dysfunction, including extensive work with family involved with child abuse and neglect, addictions, anger management issues, and conflict resolution. Dr. Jones also implements mindfulness techniques and DBT techniques to assist individuals and families to reduce anxiety, stress, impulsivity and depression. Additionally, Dr. Jones has received her certification as a Certified Complex Trauma Professional and in DBT.
