About Me
If you are at the place where you feel it is time to seriously consider talking to someone professionally, then you are probably having a hard time and experiencing a tremendous amount of pain, grief, or frustration, or all of these issues. Life can be very challenging and perhaps you are in the midst of a very difficult, life-changing event. Or perhaps you have hit a wall with your ability to cope with a trauma from your past that you thought had been successfully buried many years ago.
Often, life gets away from us before we realize how quickly things have changed. Life is a process of personal growth and evolution. It is also a process of building and maintaining relationships with people in a world that is constantly in flux.
If you are looking to develop greater insight into these concerns, counseling is a great place to start.
In my Individual Therapy and Family Therapy practice, I focus on partnering with you to explore challenges around interpersonal relationships, behavioral problems, sexual identity and behaviors, self-esteem, core beliefs/values, and many other aspects of life.
In counseling, I also incorporate techniques from a variety of theoretical orientations, placing an emphasis on collaboration and client-identified goals. I explore with clients how emotional and psychological obstacles from the past and in the present interfere with attaining goals and optimal day-to-day functioning. I especially enjoy helping couples improve their relationship by utilizing the 7 Principles of Making Relationships work from the research-based Gottman Couples Method.
My innate curiosity, desire to help, and love for people, allow me to create a healing environment for my clients and provide them with results.
I am a Tennessee-based psychotherapist with more than fifteen years of experience treating children, adolescents, adults, and families. I have extensive training in CBT, DBT, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, and psychodynamic modalities and specialize in treating trauma (PTSD; abuse). I use a flexible, eclectic, and highly individualized approach to my work. With a relatable and "real" style, I assist patients in identifying areas of concern, deepening self-awareness, developing and achieving realistic goals for their treatment.
As the poet Khalil Gibran said, "To get to the dawn of a new day, you must first pass through the darkness of a night." It is actually during these times of great hardship that individuals find great rewards.

Great listener and respond with what she heard. She provides great ways for us to understand what she needs from us. She is a clear communicator. We appreciate every minute of our sessions.
Great listener with great advice
Starting therapy, especially couples therapy was scary and overwhelming. Lisa has been nothing but kind, straight forward and actively listens to me and my partner. Lisa is supportive and respectful to us both. We appreciate her so much.
Lisa is great. I wasn’t in to therapy at first but Lisa changed that for me.
Lisa’s support is really appreciated and has made me feel much better
