My name is Lisa O'Bryan, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia. I earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology at the University of Virginia. I continued on to earn a Masters of Education (MSEd) in Counseling and Psychotherapy at Old Dominion University. I currently own a private practice called Grace Covenant Counseling & Psychotherapy.
I believe in the potential of people to heal and have the life that they deserve. I work with couples, individually and together, to process a variety of relationship issues. Topics include communication, conflict management, parenting, trust, infidelity, and refocusing on the marital connection after a disconnect. I believe in being in the moment with the clients, providing a comfortable and safe therapeutic environment to promote personal growth. It is important to understand a person's social and family background and how those affect their daily life and functioning. Our family of origin contributes a lot to how we attach and show love as adults.
I strive to assist individuals and couples in changing negative thoughts (cognitions) and behaviors to more positive alternatives. I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client's individual needs to help attain the growth they are striving for. I believe that everyone has a story to tell. Counseling helps you understand your past so that you can write your future. I strive to help all of my patients understand where they have been, what has worked and not worked for them, and choose their future path.
I look forward to working with you.

Lisa is insightful and always responds promptly.
I really like working with Lisa and she is very responsive. The only challenge is we would love to have some video chat/face to face time and her schedule is very different than ours and doesn’t have times available when we would be able to do that
She is very good and very quick to respond. She also is very good at "gently" pushing for responses. I say that because some people (like me) are not very good at this type of interaction.
The only thing that I wish was different was to have the ability to interact without my spouse. For example, be able to voice concerns about personal shortcomings or things that one might think is the marriage or joint issue, but really is a personal issue. If any of that makes any sense.
Overall, Lisa has been very good.
