About me

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker-LICSW # 2490C licensed in the state of Alabama. I graduated from Oakwood University where I studied nursing, then I attended Alabama A& M University and obtained a Masters of Social Work degree -specialized in Mental Health and Substance Use disorders. I have had the experience of working with teens of all ages with mental illness and occurring disorders. I have been able to provide them with support in a collaborative and on an individual basis involving their families as part of their treatment modality and support system. I have worked with couples and families dealing with marital issues and separation ; facilitating mediation; provide support during custody proceedings and helping to mitigate its impact on the children.

I have over 5 years experience providing relationship counseling to couple with an emphasis on teaching proper communication skills ; poor communication or lack of communication is one of the main catalyst for the breakdown of relationships and leads to the separation of couples.

I have also worked with individuals who struggles with relationship issues due to past childhood abuse, family alcoholism, and inadequate parenting. Together we resolve marital distress, job stress, depression and anxiety. I find that individuals as well as couples often are unskilled in communication and relationship skills and need guidance in learning them.
