I am a marriage and family therapist licensed in Idaho with 9 years working as a psychotherapist. I have experience working with a variety of couples and families of all ages, composition, and backgrounds, however, the bulk of my experience has been with sex offenders, sex abuse victims, domestic violence victims, and individuals/families dealing with substance abuse and addictions. I am experienced in working with multiple issues such as trauma and PTSD, bipolar disorders, depression, anxiety, marital conflict, self-esteem and confidence issues, pre-marital and relationship issues, and co-dependency. For the past year, I have been working intensely with addictions and family conflict.
My approach to therapy is empathic and compassionate. Each individual has their own story and view and I encourage my clients to voice those. I provide a supportive, validating environment and emphasize that therapy is client-centered and their needs supercede any possible agenda. I'm here to offer guidance, motivation, structure, support, and acceptance. I see my role as that of facilitator in assisting my clients to create the life they want.
My preferred modalities are strategic, structural, narrative, and systemic family-centered therapies to address negative thought processes and the development of positive communication skills.
I applaud you for seeking assistance. You've taken the first step to attaining better mental and emotional health by recognizing that you don't have to deal with trials alone. I look forward to building a strong working relationship with you.

Leisa is straightforward and to the point. I can write long messages in text, and she can summarize it into one or two poignant questions. If you want a chatterbox or someone with a lot of opinions or direct advice, she is not the counselor for you. But if you need someone to be a listener and let you vent, then allow you space to process and give you good questions to think about your own decisions, the she’s the gal for you. I can tell she cares about my wellbeing and my dating relationship while keeping things timely and professional. She also is very clear when something is out of her scope of practice or expertise and I love that she will direct me to other resources.
Friendly and understanding. The moment I started talking with her made me more calm and capable of reflecting on the situation better.
