About me
I have been a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist since 1983. My experience includes working with groups, individuals, couples, and families dealing with a variety of issues such as domestic violence, child abuse, trauma, personality disorders, role adjustments, suicide, anxiety, stress, and depression to name a few. My training includes hypnotherapy, existential/humanistic dynamic therapy, family systems and strategic solution focused therapies, multicultural counseling.
My specializations include working with Spanish speaking families, crisis intervention and suicide prevention, group counseling, and trauma work through hypnotherapy and dialectal therapies.
I have an empathic style with a very genuine approach. I am flexible and at times direct, but attempt a certain humility with everyone as I believe people know more about themselves than I do.
I see myself as a structural mechanic when working with couples and families, and my job is to guide families toward clear boundaries and roles with one another while opening effective communication.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Dr. Kristi Kanel. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Regain might be different.
Dr. Kanel talks with empathy and that's the number one thing I needed in counseling. She's great to talk to.
