About Me

Hello and welcome! My name is Kayleen Shaw and I want to first say that because you are here you are already on the path to healing your relationship. My profession as a therapist is one that I take very seriously because I know that people are valuable, their lives are precious, and joy and contentment should be in each and every one of us.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Southeast Missouri. I have over fourteen years experience providing clinical support to a diverse population over that amount of time. I have experience in the community mental health setting, hospital setting, and also in the education setting. In 2006 I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Missouri-Columbia. I also have a Specialist degree in Counseling Education from Southeast Missouri State University. I have worked with all age groups and have experience working with a wide range of presenting issues including relationship conflicts, self image, grief and loss, parenting, intimacy, motivation and anxiety.
I would describe my approach as client-centered and solution-focused. I provide a compassionate, empathetic style, while also empowering and challenging clients to be their best selves. I use an integrated approach with clients, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Solution focused therapy, Client-Centered Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavior therapy. I encourage couples to set realistic goals and objectives throughout the therapy process and I am committed to joining, supporting, and encouraging my clients in that process. I know finding a therapist that you are able to connect with is essential, and I would be honored to work alongside you during this time.

I’m surprised by how comfortable I feel with Kayleen. She never makes me feel judged for my feelings and has a very understanding tone when addressing my concerns.
