Hello! Thank you for taking the time to read about me. My name is Kathryn and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have been working in the behavioral health field for over ten years; and doing direct counseling for the past four years. I received my Master of Science Degree in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix Arizona. After graduation I worked as an in-home counselor with families and couples struggling with interpersonal relationship difficulties, communication difficulties, substance abuse and domestic violence. I have experience working with individuals and couples dealing with addictions and recovery, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorder.
I am a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, who uses an emotional focused therapy approach with an emphasis on being mindful and solution focused. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based therapy that is used to treat several psychological disorders such as phobias, addiction, depression and anxiety; and it can also be used to help couples struggling with relationship difficulties. My goal as a therapist will be to help you and your spouse or partner feel safe, to build rapport, and trust in me as a therapist and in the therapeutic process. I will work collaboratively with you and your spouse or partner to help achieve specific goals and help to improve responses to difficult situations. I utilize empathy, motivational interviewing, and active listening techniques to support in having a truly wonderful counseling experience.
