My name is Karen Krider and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Georgia, National Certified Counselor (NCC), and have a MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University in Atlanta and a BS in Psychology and minor in English Language and Literature. I work with a wide variety of disorders and conditions such as depression and anxiety. My practice specializes in trauma, PTSD, and addictions counseling with a focus on treatment for adults. I have worked in community counseling, crisis counseling, and currently specialize in work with Veterans and Military Service Members.
My Counseling Philosophy: I believe that couples counseling is an interactive relationship between the two people in the relationship and the counselor. This relationship is collaborative, nurturing, supportive, and holistic. My approach to counseling is to discover the underlying causes for outward behaviors and symptoms, and to heal those causes using a wide variety of therapeutic modalities and interventions. Couples counseling is different in that the marriage or the relationship is the "client" and there is no one person at fault when there are problems. It is the job of the counselor to examine the dynamics of the relationship and work with the couple to better understand how they got to their present issues and how to heal. A couple much first have hope that healing is possible and then have the best possible relationship with a supportive counselor to move towards the goals that will make a difference in their relationship.
