Jim works with couples to get "bogged down" in solutions to marital issues rather than problems. He has worked with many couples over his 39 years of practice to help them learn how to communicate, and learn how to forgive each other and themselves, as well as learn to receive and accept forgiveness. Couples can then learn to "let to" of the past, and formulate purposeful goals, as a couple, for the future. Each client is coached in how to constructively interrupt the "blame game" and get back on track with constructive problem solving behavior. Each client learns how to "be in the present" and completely listen verbally and non-verbally to each other, practicing acceptance & kindness. Areas that need individual work are identified and addressed in separate sessions. Is chemical dependency or alcoholism a factor contaminating the relationship? Is abuse present? If there is physical abuse, marital therapy needs to be delayed until those issues are resolved through individual sessions.

My therapist James Wilson has been absolutely amazing he really is understanding, empathic, compassionate, and knowledgeable. He remembers each week every detail of what we have discussed and makes me feel very comfortable. He speaks on personal experience from his own life and people he has helped throughout his career. I always feel like I can completely open up to him and truly be heard.
