James Perry

About Me

Hello! My name is James “Jim” Perry, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oklahoma, married for 32 years to the love of my life (who is also a Licensed Therapist). I have several years of experience in the field of mental health and also work on a psychiatric inpatient unit in the Oklahoma City area. I also work with couples who are struggling with relationship and intimacy issues, finding the right balance together, and the other life challenges that often get in the way of “just doing life as a couple”.

My approach is to develop a very relaxed, non-threatening, non-clinical therapeutic relationship with my clients. I recognize that the first step to a better life is often the most difficult, especially when it seems terrifying to jump out of your own comfort zone. I help my clients to take that first step by simply starting a conversation about what your life is like, what you would like your marriage life to look like, and how you can get there...together. We can walk through the fire together and develop individualized strategies that produce results and lead to a more fulfilling relationship and marriage.

I completed my Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology at Southern Nazarene University in December of 2014. I also have a Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree in Education, which I utilize in my work along with career minded professionals. My previous professional experience includes 21 years in the United States Air Force as a Military Counselor, Training Instructor, Instructor Flight Engineer, and currently working in the Logistics/Analyst field for a major Defense Contractor. Over the past 7 years, I have worked in various sectors in the field of mental health, including working with mild to severe mental health issues in both outpatient and inpatient settings. More recently, I've concentrated my counseling practice on dealing with the common, yet significant challenges that life inevitably throws at us as human beings...especially when doing life together as a couple.

If you are searching for direction, contentment, and/or need help getting past an obstacle in your personal or professional life, I would welcome the opportunity to walk through it along with you.
