About me

Greetings! I am James, an LCSW with over 20 years of counseling experience. My primary professional experience has been in Adult Mental Health and Addictive Issues. I have also worked well with families that have experienced trauma and/ or abuse. I have spent much of my career working with families displaced by homelessness, and I currently run a supportive residence for Working Couples and their children experiencing homelessness in Atlanta, Ga.
I am also a licensed and ordained Baptist Minister and serve as the Assistant Pastor of a church. In that role I operate as the Lead Pastoral Counselor and have worked with many married and unmarried couples and their children. I have a private practice, S.H.A.N.T.I. Psychotherapy, LLC (Spiritual Holistic And Natural Therapeutic Interventions). Through that agency I contracted with Georgia State University for three years to provide services in their Counseling and Testing Center. In that position I worked quite effectively with many couples of varying ages, ethnicities and sexual preferences. During my tenure with the center, we saw a significant increase in client satisfaction and referral to friends for services.
Ultimately, it takes two healthy individuals in order to have a healthy relationship. By utilizing the Best Evidence Based practices and willingness to be honest in our appraisal, we can find a way to alleviate emotional pain and increase happiness and the quality of daily life for all parties involved.

James got right to the point and was able to decipher and present exactly what needed to be said. He spoke encouragingly to us and channeled us to focus on the good things in our relationship and a path to work through conflict. I would highly recommend James to any couple seeking to deepen their love for one another.

Work with me!
