About me

Hello! My name is Jaime, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Oregon. I received my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwest Christian University in 2015, and my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Oregon in 2011.

I have 8 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families. I am experienced in providing counseling to couples in all stages of relationships, including pre-marital, marital, considering divorce, and providing support through a divorce. I am passionate about working with couples and families to identify mutual goals, develop healthy communication and conflict resolution skills, learn effective parenting strategies, navigate challenges, and increase positive interactions. My objective is to ensure that each person's voice is heard, and to work collaboratively with couples to identify shared goals and solutions to building a relationship that is mutually rewarding. In addition to couples and family counseling, I am experienced in working with clients struggling with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, self-harm, life transitions, substance use, eating disorders, and stress.

As a therapist, my goal is to create a supportive environment of trust, safety, and respect in which I can collaborate with clients to identify solutions and goals to create a more fulfilling, meaningful life. I believe the therapeutic relationship is of utmost importance in facilitating a positive outcome in counseling. I strive to create an empathetic and non-judgmental outlet in which individuals and couples can openly explore their challenges and goals. I believe in accepting and meeting clients where they are at, while at the same time gently guiding them in the direction of their goals at a pace they are comfortable.

My counseling approach is based on Client-Centered Therapy, while also incorporating aspects of CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Social Learning Theory. Furthermore, I approach counseling from a strengths based perspective, building on individuals’ and couples' strengths to implement strategies to overcome life’s difficulties. It is my belief that clients are the experts of their own lives, and I strive to tailor my approach to each individual and couple's unique wants and needs for therapy.

You have taken the first step towards creating a happier, healthier life, both as individuals and within your relationship. I would be honored to accompany you on this journey to help you achieve your goals and create a fulfilling, meaningful life.

Jamie is a wonderful person to work with. It has been a very valuable experience and one I have recommended to friends and colleagues. She is skilled at helping us through difficult conversations and makes sure we both are heard. She provides reading materials and worksheets that have helped, and we have made really good progress with her help.
