Choosing a therapist is an important, but sometimes overwhelming process. Let me tell you a little about myself so you can decide if we would be the right fit.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker born and raised in New Jersey but currently living in California. I have Bachelor's Degrees in English and Women's Studies and a Master's Degree in Social Work from New York University. I'd like to think that living in California has not softened my NJ/NY edge too much!
I have worked with survivors of domestic violence, youth in foster care, forensic patients and the severely mentally ill, so I have a pretty diverse background. I am open-minded and can talk about most anything. I try to begin each new therapeutic relationship from a place of empathy. I can also be somewhat informal in my approach in order to create a comfortable, authentic environment.
As a therapist, I want couples and families to communicate in a healthy, honest way. I want to help people heal and move forward in their lives while feeling free of the baggage of the past. I want to "go where there is silence and say something."
To do all that, all those involved have to put in the work. I use various modalities depending on the needs of the patients and the situation. I have experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Family Systems Theory and Motivational Interviewing, among others. Aside from all the theories and modalities, sometimes it is just nice to have someone to talk to while you are going through something tough or working out some big feelings. I'm hopeful I can be that person.

She is great, very considerate and very flexible with our needs and scheduling.
Jacquie has been working with myself and my husband for almost three months. Jacquie is very kind, understanding, open and listens to both of our concerns extremely well throughout the consult. Jacquie always responds to our messages in a very prompt manner. She is also extremely accommodating in working with our schedules and meeting with us during some later evenings, and also Friday evenings. My husband and I have been really enjoying our time with her and look forward to continue to work with her.
