My name is Jack Gershfeld, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have over 6 years of experience in the field of mental health and currently operate a private counseling practice in Fullerton, California. I work with individuals and couples who experience relationship distress and are yearning to find a way to re-connect and feel close to each other again. I teach in Pepperdine University and am Clinical Supervisor at a community clinic in La Mirada.
My approach is rooted in the research based Emotionally Focused Therapy which focuses on recovering individuals and couples from relationship distress. This approach is grounded in care, support and empowerment of people in the relationship. This non-judgemental stance ensures safety and support for each partner in the relationship and offers a safe and secure environment to heal relationship wounds.
I completed my master's degree in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University in California. I also have a bachelor's and master's degree in engineering, which I utilize in my work with entrepreneurs and business professionals/partners.
I know that it is not easy to decide to start couples therapy. After all, we are expected to know how to make our relationship work! Many couples try for years to restore the tender loving care they had when they met. It seems that the harder we try to reconnect with the person we love, the more difficult it is to stay connected and fights continue to erupt. After a while we start seeing our partners as scary, unloving and uncaring. Daily fights about insignificant things become a norm and being close and loving to each other becomes a distant memory.
Take the first step toward a fulfilling relationship that removes anger and frustration and replaces it with care, support, love and understanding. Journey with your partner through the highs and lows of your relationship to a place where you are both understood, valued, cared for and respected. I know it is difficult to take the first step and schedule a session with a licensed marriage and family therapist; yet the alternative is a continued struggle and disappointment with your partner. Let’s work together to reclaim your relationship and build a strong and trusting bonds.

Jack is an extraordinary therapist and has helped us so much. He is kind, professional, insightful, and sensitive. He has saved our marriage!
Very patient and understanding. Would prefer if he responds more between sessions.
Jack is a master at his practice. He was able to come in the first session and diffuse years of tension and allow us a safe place to begin to deal with our issues.
Jack is kind and empathetic. I truly believe in his approach of marital therapy.
We are still in the beginning phase of our time with Jack but so far he has been wonderful. Very good at getting to the heart of the topic and helping us talk through it. I am very hopeful.
Jack is amazing and a great listener! Highly recommend.
Jack has been helping me managing a huge life change. I appreciate his patience and effort in balancing where I need to be heard and prodded out of my funk. His methods focus on giving enough space and recognition to emotions while keeping a dotted line to the practical to ensure real-life progress.
Thanks for everything you do for me and Tiffany, Jack.
