Elvira Vaughan

About Me

Hello, I am a licensed professional counselor licensed in the state of Texas. I have a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry that I earned at the University of Texas-Austin in 1992. I decided later in life to go back to school and become a counselor. By then, I had a husband and family, so I decided to attend an online program at Liberty University in Virginia. I graduated in December 2012, and began my internship working in an outpatient setting helping people with mental health disorders, including substance abuse, depression, anxiety, anger, domestic violence, and sexual abuse. I became fully licensed in October 2015, and continued working in that setting until February 2019, when I began working as an independent provider. I have experience with individuals of all ages, couples, and families. My approach is person-centered and I generally use cognitive-behavioral theory to teach clients how to change unhelpful thinking patterns; however, I can also teach healthy communication skills, anger management skills, and parenting.

I enjoy helping people and couples on their journey to being the best version of themselves.

Elvira Vaughan is very professional and asks many questions to help understand the current situation. She listens and offers really thought provoking feedback that has engaged me in wanting a positive outcome. Really appreciate her approach. Highly recommended her! Also, she will send short messages to see if I need to chat and if all is good.
