Elizabeth Smith

About Me

My name is Elizabeth “Liz” Smith. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania, and a National Certified Counselor. I completed my master's degree in professional counseling at Waynesburg University in 2010 as a nontraditional student.

I have worked with many couples who successfully overcame obstacles in their relationship and life goals. I typically focus on healthy communication patterns and use the Gottman approach by each partner establishing a relationship with the therapist through sharing their history, their relationship philosophy, and their goals for treatment, each providing an assessment of the relationship, learning to engage in discussion of a topic on which partners disagree, learning the research-derived components of healthy relationships, bolstering the fondness and respect that first brought partners together, learning and practicing skills for each element of a good relationship, from developing trust to repairing attacks and other regrettable incidents, coaching from the therapist in the use of interaction skills, balancing the wheel of their relationship and acquiring tools for checking and maintaining relationship health beyond therapy.

I believe in the gift that couples give to each other day after day and work be happy to assist in helping you create a stronger relationship and therapeutic outcome.
