About me

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Marriage Couples and Family Counseling, with an emphasis in Crisis and Trauma Counseling. My experience ranges with many different age groups, an I have worked with a diverse client base over the past 12 years. I started off working with Survivors of Sexual Trauma, Domestic Violence, and Human Trafficking. I have extensive training and experience with couples in multiple areas, divorce, custody, blended families, infidelity, polyamory, sex addictions, intimacy issues. I have worked with children, adolescents, Teens, young adults, adults and the Elderly, providing Individual Therapy, Family Therapy and Couples Therapy, as well as Group Therapy.

My education allowed me to focus more on Couples and Families than a General Counseling Degree. I was able to spend a lot of time focusing on Family Dynamics, how a family system can be effected by the individual roles each member has within the family. In relation to Couples Counseling, it was very important to understand the needs that each individual had from their partner in the relationship. There are many variables that can effect this relationship, including outside family members, careers, starting a family, education finances and goals later in life. The most important thing to consider, is that two people are coming together to start a life together, and with that comes two separate set of values, how they were raised by their parents, family traditions, perhaps different cultures, emotional baggage and many other things.

I have worked with families for the past 12 years, which also allowed me to work with Couples. Because inevitably, anytime children have been involved, there has been strain on the Couple Relationship. In my experience, I have found communication is one of the biggest challenges that couples seem to struggle with, however it is not the only challenge. But usually once we have been able to repair the breakdown in communication, the other struggles have been easier to work through. I have also worked with Couples separately who do not have children which provides different challenges all together. I bring my own personal experiences of marriage and divorce and I have a family of my own and can understand some of the challenges that couples face on a regular basis.

Elaine was the one let us be most satisfied. She understand our problem and gave constructive suggestions. And most important was that she was fun to talk to. Personally I really like her.

Elaine has not only demonstrated the ability to be supportive and helpful but intuitive as well. She is very quick to use relatable situations and scenarios to display understanding or why certain things would work. We are new to counseling but in our limited and brief experience she has been nothing but 100% professional, reliable and made the experience as easy as possible! Thank you, Elaine!
