About me

I have been in practice for over 20 years and have had experience working with a diverse group of individuals, couples, and families. Together, we have explored trauma events and their impact on individuals and families, family relationships, couples’ issues, and depression, anxiety, infidelity, spiritual dilemmas, and other experiences that have an effect on day-to-day living. My experience extends to working with an older population and caregivers, as well as with younger couples and families. Working with individuals who are in the early stages of dementia or Alzheimer's Disease and with their families and caregivers is a new and interesting population for me.

For me, counseling is a passion. Being a counselor is a calling, it encompasses me as a person and as a professional. My training includes a Master of Science in counseling from the Canisius College of Buffalo,NY and a doctorate in Counselor Education an d Supervision from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. As a lifelong learner, I have continued my education during my years in practice, during which I have been able to become familiar with many aspects of couples and family counseling.

I hope that you will reach out and contact me for the help you are seeking to strengthen your relationships. I look forward to working with you!

Dr. O'Brien definitely is exceptional. Currently in couples counseling and even with few words i speak she still knows how to respond and with accuracy. She does not make you feel rushed for time and makes me feel heard and understood.

Dr. O'Brien was very attentive during our couples sessions and was quick to respond to messages. She provided guidance during a difficult time and we are very grateful for her expertise and kind demeanour. We highly recommend her as a therapist.
