Deborah Pogel

About Me

I am a psychotherapist in Iowa and have worked with individual clients and couples for over 12 years at mental health agencies and in my private practice.
I employ an integrative approach to treatment based on the needs of the couple. My therapeutic approach is heavily based on the widely researched and evidenced based Gottman Method Couples therapy. I have completed levels 1 and 2 of the Gottman relationship training. My experience is that when couples come for counseling, they are usually in a lot of pain and conflict. In my office, I teach how to manage conflict, deepen friendship and intimacy, and share life dreams. I have been gratified to watch couples enliven the fondness and admiration for each other they felt had been lost.

Deborah is an AMAZING counselor. She listens and then recommends techniques that are based in science for dealing with issues. She’s patient and respectful and incredibly knowledgeable.

Excellent therapist. Very easy to talk to and her methods really worked for us. We have been through marriage counseling twice before and, this time, have seen the most change in the shortest time, by far! Would absolutely recommend!
