Dayna Russo

About Me

My name is Dayna Russo, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 11 years of combined unlicensed and licensed experience in the social work field. I have a Master's of Social Work from Florida State University, and have experience working children, adolescents and adults through individual, family and couples counseling. My work focuses on mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, trauma and PTSD, and personality disorders.

My clinical approach with couples will focus on recognizing and correcting behavioral patterns within the relationship that aren't helpful, be that in your communication styles, irrational thought patterns, or other routines that you've grown into over time that aren't serving you. In treatment, the goal is never to prove which side is right, and I work hard to maintain neutrality throughout treatment. Active engagement in couples counseling is a must, and at times treatment will include assignments between sessions. A few pointers entering into treatment are to make sessions a priority; consistent attendance will greatly help the outcome of therapy. Be willing to take risks and try new things; learning new skills and breaking out of routines feels uncomfortable! Eventually the skills we work on will become second nature, and you won't notice you're using them. Finally, feel free to give feedback! Knowing what specific needs you have as a couple will only help me to tailor your therapy experience to you, and help you as a couple to get the most out of therapy.

Every relationship deserves a chance to be saved; if you don't talk about what's bothering you, you never give yourself or your partner the chance to improve. Expressing concerns or discontent provides that opportunity, and allows for you both to move forward!

Dayna has been tremendously beneficial to me. I write a lot in our conversations, and she has been extremely patient with me. She's demonstrated that she reads everything and carefully processes what I say, and has the ability to reframe things to me in a way that makes sense.

She's provided a safe and secure, non-judgmental environment for me to speak my mind, and I've always felt safe sharing anything with her.

When I first came to Dayna, my life was dark and out of control. I had these difficult thoughts about what happened to me, and she really showed me a way forward, showed me a way to get those thoughts under control and take back my life. For that, I am extremely grateful.
