Welcome to BetterHelp! My name is Daniel Villarreal. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have 33 years of counseling experience working with Divorce, separation, GAL's, Parent Coordinators, Divorce Court systems and with the Police . Life and relationships can be confusing and mixed; each can be a source of both pain and healing. Given this, my goal as a therapist is to collaborate with you in navigating this confusing world. This might include self-exploration and identity, adjusting to life transitions, overcoming relationship difficulties, navigating depression and/or anxiety, and moving forward post-trauma.
I have diverse clinical experience, including couples from various socioeconomic, racial, ethnic, religious, educational, gender, and spiritual backgrounds. I approach each couple uniquely and my main goal is to create a safe non-judgmental space in which you are welcome as you are.
I practice primarily from attachment and psycho-dynamic theories, while utilizing key interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) with a focus on mindfulness to manage symptoms. I am a level II trained Restoration Therapist, which I utilize in couples work to help identify underlying patterns of interaction that lead to familiar fights and difficulty resolving arguments.
I work heavily with Addictions, Relationship issues, Family conflicts, Trauma and abuse, Intimacy-related issues, Parenting issues, Anger management, Self esteem, Coping with life changes and ADHD.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Daniel Villarreal. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with ReGain might be different.
Very understanding and thorough in his listening and feedback.
We're happy with the help he has given us.
Its too early to provide feedback.
Daniel was thoughtful and responsive. He understood what the issues were and gave realistic expectations and a good plan to move forward. Highly recommend.
Daniel is very considered and listens to boths sides 9f the argument in a balanced and positive way. In my opinion he is a top class therapist and clearly has a wealth of experience experience. He is also kind and considered
Appreciate the work he’s doing for Nicole (My Fiancé) and I
Reliable and caring counselor.
Daniel is terrific and helpful!!!
Daniel is a great listener. He has worked with my wife and I for the last several months and have really enjoyed working with him to help our relationship. Very kind, easy to talk to, good sense of humor, and offers very helpful relationship advice.
Daniel is a patient, positive minded, practical, down to earth and an exceptional listener. I love how he can synthesize conversations in a way that spoke to both of us.
Daniel has been very supportive from the outset. He is very easy to talk to and makes us feel comfortable. He has a kind but strong manner and is focussed. I would very much recommend him
Daniel is very skilled and gets to the heart of the matter with tact and profound insight. Our relationship has improved a lot in a short space of time and we argue a lot less than we did before we started therapy. He validates us both and uses humour so things don't get to heavy. He always wraps up the session in a good place. We feel very lucky to have him as our counsellor.
Daniel helped us from the beginning to relax our tense situation in the relationship with his kind and calm manner to speak and his active listening. He is also humorous and can help you to see things in a different way/more from the distance. We had 8 weeks of counselling in total, which we began together, then in the midst we spoke individually to him and in the end we had a session together again, when things were already much better at home because everyone of us had done some self-exploration. So, Daniel is really flexible in terms of that. Thank you, Daniel! We have a lot of work still to do, but you were an important mentor on our path!
Daniel has been great to work with thus far. He doesn't take sides and lets each person feel heard. He has been helpful understanding some of the issues that arise when partners are from different cultures/countries.
Daniel is very helpful and understanding. We were looking for someone who could help us communicate better and more respectfully. He is polite and really cares. I have had a not so good experience with another counselor on this site, she was very unhelpful, focused on telling me what I was doing wrong, often sided with my GF, picked out all of my issues. Daniel is impartial and is able to help both of us understand how we affect each other and really help us "regain" our relationship.
Daniel has been very helpful in helping me realize the root of some of my issues and how to deal with them. Thank you!
My partner and I have really liked working with Daniel. He was extremely sensitive to our problem yet direct. He saw both sides and was able to get us to see each other’s side. He was very, very punctual and got back to us in a timely manner when we needed it the most. Thank you, Daniel Villarreal!!
Daniel is a good person to have as a counselor. He actively listens and give you good feedback along with strategies to help you reach your goals. He is very intelligent and resourceful.
