About me

In my practice, I have the opportunity to help people from a wide variety of backgrounds who come to me seeking help with life's issues. During my internship and practicum experience, I worked on a college campus primarily serving individuals between the ages of 18 and 24. I was also able to serve the larger university community working with couples experiencing difficulty in their relationships. I have also worked in a community counseling center where I was able to help people of all ages respond to everything from relationship problems, trauma-related issues, and dealing with stress and anxiety. One area of focus when I work with couples is teaching them how to identify, address, and ultimately solve conflict.

My counseling style is warm and interactive. My therapeutic approach combines cognitive-behavioral, dialectical, and mindfulness-based treatments. Historically I have seen couples face life's challenges much better when they understand what they can and cannot change and how to respond to difficult circumstances. I do not believe in a one size fits all approach so it is my relationship with and listening to each person that will allow me to determine how best to help them achieve the goals that THEY set in counseling.

I look forward to working with you as you continue your journey.

Carlton is very understanding, impartial, and allows us (my wife and I) to talk to each other and sort things out. He is balanced in his emotions, and ensure we have the same through our conversations.

Cartlton has been the best counselor we have ever had. We have seen 4 counselors prior and he is exactly what we needed. He always has tools to help with any issues we have had.

Absolutely love him! The best counseling experience my husband and I have ever had. He is able to relate to what we are going through and offer advice without any judgement. He is also able to laugh with us! He’s just a great guy, and we are lucky to have been matched with him!!
