I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for nearly 16 years and work in private practice. My practice is limited to couples and families of all persuasions. If, however, an individual presents with relationship/family issues, I will also be glad to see them.
Psychotherapy is a second career for me. Prior to returning to graduate school, I was a parent and an educator. I’m also a spouse, and now a grandmother. My husband and I are married 48 years and are blessed with 2 sons, their partners, and 6 beautiful grandchildren. In addition to practicing as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I’m also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator, a Collaborative Divorce Law Professional, a Discernment Counselor, and a Co-parenting specialist. Along with my extensive professional training, I bring years of life experience to my work.
University of Florida:
--B.A., Comparative Religious Studies
--M.Ed, Counselor Education
--Ed.S, Marriage and Family Therapy
My primary approaches to therapy include (but are not limited to) Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioral intervention as well as Solution Focused Brief Therapy. Knowing we cannot go back in time and change past dysfunction, we can, however, affect change today by learning the skills and tools needed to restructure ineffective past dynamics.
My practice is limited to couples/families/relationship issues only. I can assist you and your partner/family in generating positive, effective change. You will be treated with respect, without judgment, and you will have the opportunity to gain clarity and to be heard. My objective is to teach all parties effective communication skills which create an opportunity for deeper understanding of and empathy within your partnership, relationship and/or family. As an agent of change, I can help you break free from those unproductive patterns and move forward in with clear communication and improved understanding.

Bhakti is an amazing couples therapist. We have been working with her for only a couple of months and we are falling in love again except in a much deeper way. She helped us repair old wounds and use tools to prevent making new ones. When we started working with her, we were desperate for help with our communication issues and our relationship was very strained. In a relatively short period of time, we are back on track and making big life plans together. I can’t say enough to show my gratitude. She is so knowledgeable and caring that doing the work is fun and rewarding. THANK YOU BHAKTI!
Me Cohen is very professional, knowledge and transparent. All of these are qualities needed to benefit from the services provided. I highly recommended Ms Cohen to anyone requiring relationship counseling.
Bhakti is a wonderful counselor who has many ideas for couples. Her sessions have been very eye-opening and informative and have given us tools to better navigate our communication.
I have done only one session for now and I have had a great experience.
