Hello, my name is Ana Lilia Morales-Mackay, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California with over 10 years of experience working as a psychotherapist. I have a Master of Science in Counseling from California State University, Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern California in American Studies & Ethnicity with minors in Gender Studies and Spanish. My pronouns are she, her, and hers.
I have worked in outpatient mental health settings providing individual therapy, group therapy, and couples therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and families. I have experience working with clients who have experienced trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, family counseling, grief & loss, and parenting problems. My approach to therapy is cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic. My areas of expertise include exploring trauma and understanding how that impacts current decisions and relationships. My counseling style and approach really depends on the client and what best fits the situation. I will be listening to your needs and how to best support you.
My goal in working with couples is to help strengthen their relationship in three primary areas: friendship, conflict management, and creation of shared meaning. I hope to help couples learn to replace negative conflict patterns with positive interactions and to repair past hurts. Interventions are designed to increase closeness and intimacy to improve friendship, deepen emotional connection, and create changes which enhances the couples shared goals.
The goals of couples’ therapy are to disarm conflicting verbal communication, increase intimacy, respect, and affection, remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy in conflicting situations, and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship.
Much of my work aims to understand the underlying concerns that are causing stressful situations and maladaptive behaviors. Through active listening, empathy, and from a non-judgmental standpoint, my goal is for us to create trust within the therapeutic relationship and to work together; creating both short- and long-term goals, recognizing triggers, and creating positive coping skills to assist you on your journey to healing.
My goal is to help couples make big changes doing small things. I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you! To a happier, healthier relationship!

Ana is wonderful. She listens and responds perfectly. I like how she isn't judgmental and just gets you to think about your actions and lightly makes suggestions. She is accommodating to my schedule and is always on time. I would definitely recommend her to anyone.
