About me

Hello! My name is Alma Leigh Mohr and I am a master's level clinical social worker and the author of FLIP! From Fear to Love. Flipping the channel on dysfunctional thinking, cultivating confidence and living a life fueled with joy and purpose.

I am passionate about helping others find their way to a healthy sense of well-being. I believe that no matter what you have experienced in your life (childhood sexual trauma, neglect, abuse, abandonment, mental health diagnosis, etc ) you can not only find a sense of wellness but you can experience joy and recovery. Your life has a purpose and I promise that it is not to simply suffer. Let me help you find your path to where you want to be in your life. You are worthy and deserving of experiencing joy, love and purpose!

I am experienced in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy, Exposure Therapy, skill building, motivational interviewing, and just good old fashioned active listening just to name a few.

I believe that I deserve to be inspired. That said, I also believe that I hold a responsibility to inspire others. It is my goal, purpose and joy to help you find your path to recovery and joy.

I wasn't always a social worker. I was enlisted in the US Air Force and also worked for the TSA. I have worked in factories, fast food, higher education, sales and retail. However, the hardest job I have ever held was being a stay at home mom. Shout out to the stay at home moms and dads out there!

I have a 20 year old son and an 11 year old daughter. I am happily divorced and enjoy all that single life has to offer. I love travel, experiencing new and unusual food, art and music! I think that the new music out today is as good as the music I listened to as a teen back in the 80s. Post Malone, The Weeknd, Khalid, Drake, I could go on! Motley Crue and Guns and Roses will always have my heart though!

In the interest of full disclosure, I am unable to work with anyone who seeking therapy services as a direct result of a court order. Also, if you are actively experiencing / participating in a violent domestic partnership, I am unable to provide any therapy utilizing this online forum. You also have a right to know that I am required to report any abuse of children, elderly and the disabled to the proper authorities. This abuse includes physical, emotional and financial.

I look forward to getting to know you and working with you. As much as I love what I do and am passionate about psychotherapy, I am not for everyone and that is ok! If you decide that we aren't a good match, I want you to either let me know or contact BetterHelp customer service and ask for someone else. Remember this is YOUR journey. Make the decisions you need to in order to get to where you need to be. I wish you love, light and joy! Alma Leigh

Alma is so awesome I wish I could carry her on my shoulder. She challenges me in a supportive way. I feel that many therapists work so hard to validate and make you comfortable, that they are afraid to challenge you. Alma is brilliant! If you are serious about growth and healing Alma is your gal!
