I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I combine my behavioral and psychotherapy training to help clients from a holistic perspective.
In addition to my behavioral and counseling training, I have received specialized couples training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). This is a type of therapy that focuses on the process rather than the content. Often when couples come into therapy they are trapped in a cycle of content (“He said,” “She said”). I try to cut through that and go into the underlying feelings, emotions, and unconscious family-of-origin patterns that drive the surfacing content.
The core of my work with couples is fostering empathy between partners. Often, people get stuck in a cycle and they don’t even realize what their real motivation is. I help each partner bring these underlying motivations to the surface. Therapy creates a safe place to talk about it. When we get to the underlying feelings, I help couples validate and assist each partner in greater understanding of their mate’s struggle.
My training and approach to therapy is warm and collaborative. I like to start by identifying your goals. My psychotherapy approach relies on a lot of communication, active listening, and exploration. While my behavioral approach strives to create clear and attainable goals along with a plan for achieving them.
I look forward to working with you!
