About Me

I have been in a 35 plus years relationship, have three children, grandchildren and consider these bonds to be the hub of my joy and inner growth. My relationships have been built on integrity, wonder and appreciation. I consider marriage/ relationship counseling to be rewarding to both the individuals involved as well as to the couple relationship.
My approach is collaborative with the goal of expanding self-awareness and gaining insight into self-defeating patterns causing distress. I believe that each individual and couple carry within them the capacity to change based on their priorities and values to move towards wholeness. I believe in innate capacities, strength and wellness. My approach is to both honor the past and add new lighting to the present. Using an attachment and trauma lens, I combine a myriad of tools: family systems, CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, EMDR, gratitude, breathing techniques. attachment theories and a toolbox of other techniques using a strengths-based perspective. The goal is always to integrate the wounded, fragmented parts of oneself so that a secure attachment can be formed to the self or a partner, with the goal of creating more intimacy.

I am also a trained mediator and have many years of experience assisting couples come to peaceful resolutions regarding issues with children and emotional resentments, should they choose to divorce. This helps facilitate a healthy adjustment for the couple and any children they may have.

Shoshona demonstrates a great intuitive sense about what is really going on under the surface and addresses those issues with care and respect in a way that help you find ways to deal with things that, honestly, if you could have addressed on your own, you wouldn't have sought counseling. Shoshona is a very capable counselor and I fully recommend her.
